Curriculum vitae
Caterina Morcia has a degree in Biological Science at the University of Parma (2003) and a PhD in “Science e Biotecnologie Agrarie” (2008) at the University of Modena e Reggio Emilia.
From 2008 to 2013 Caterina was Post-Doc at the CRA-Genomics Research Centre. During 2014 she was Post-Doc research position at the “Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore” of Piacenza. From 2015 she has a permanent researcher position at the CRA- Genomics Research Centre.

Current research interests
Her work is mainly focused on:
• molecular traceability in plant, animal and microbial species, with particular emphasis on cereal pathogens and mycotoxigenic fungi
• mycotoxin control in small grain cereals agro-food chains to reduce the incidence of cereal head infections and mycotoxins in cereal-based products with genetic and disease modelling strategies.
• in vitro and in vivo evaluation of the activity of essential oils against mycotoxigenic fungi affecting cereals
• chemogenomics of cereal pathogens-essential oils interaction and transcriptome analysis on cereal-fungal pathogen interactions
